Under an individual cremation service yours is the only animal involved at any stage, and that is the whole reason ashes can be handed back afterwards. Under a communal cremation service a number are cremated as a group and nothing returns to any family. The same people carry out each with the same care. Since only one leaves anything to bring home, and since it cannot be revisited once done, take the decision deliberately rather than agreeing to it in a rush.

What You Will Pay

Figures appear openly on the pet cremation price list, so nobody has to raise money aloud at the worst possible moment. Weight bands set the cremation charge, a large dog occupying the chamber far longer than a small one. Weekdays are when we ordinarily operate, and anything falling outside that runs on a separate footing with a charge attached. A pet dying overnight, where daylight is soon enough, makes the wait both cheaper and entirely harmless. Somewhere cool, quiet and undisturbed overnight is the whole of what is required.

Having taken the individual route, expect them inside a fortnight rather than the many months people brace themselves for. Somebody hands them over at your door; they never travel by post. What holds them is a genuine choice with a genuine cost, running from a plain tube meant for scattering through to oak with an engraved plate, and nobody at this end profits by talking you upward.
