Nothing needs preparing at your end and no animal should be lifted by a member of the family. Some properties along the lanes sit well back with long approaches, and one or two of the older cottages have doorways and stairs that were built for smaller people than us. None of that presents any problem. Tell us what is relevant when you call and the right kit comes with us, so nothing has to be improvised on your doorstep. People say sorry for their tracks, their gateways and their staircases remarkably often, and no such apology has ever been called for.

Two Options and the Difference

A single choice matters more than anything else here. Under an individual cremation service nothing else shares any part of the process with your animal, and that is what makes returning ashes possible. With a communal cremation service several are cremated as a group and no household receives anything. One team handles each with the same care. Since only one leaves you something to bring home, and since there is no reversing it later, it is worth settling deliberately rather than in a hurry.

Outside Standard Hours

Our ordinary times fall Monday to Friday, and anything beyond that runs separately with a charge attached. If an animal dies during the evening and daylight is soon enough, holding on until then costs less and risks nothing whatever. Cool and out of the way until morning is genuinely all that is needed, and nothing at all is made harder by those hours passing.

Shift Work and Odd Hours

A good many households here run on shift patterns because of the works, which means animals at home alone at hours when most houses have somebody in, and people asleep at two in the afternoon. Two things follow from that. Pets are sometimes found some hours after they died, simply because nobody was awake or in, and the guilt that comes with that is sharp and largely undeserved.
